this is a drawing i did of my friend veronika. it's not an accurate depiction of her. it's just pencil on paper.

Monday, December 13, 2010

i did this today in school over an hour or so. its just pencil on paper. it was based on a picture of my friend but it doesn't look anything like her.

Breathing Girl.

this is a sketch of someone breathing. i used some colored pencils, mainly gray and black and a little brown in my sketchpad. ta da

T-Shirt

instead of studying i made this shirt. i drew on a pair of aviator sunglasses modeled after a tshirt i had seen previously. i added some red color to it in the end

Hand Painting.

i painted my hand. woo. my fingers are supposed to be bones and the rest is obviously a sky. i got carried away. it's just acrylic paint on my hand!

Sky.

really nothing much to say. this is a painting of a sky the white bulb thing in the bottom right is the sun.. and everything else are clouds. acrylic on canvas. ta da.

Finished John John Painting

this is the completed work of my john john kennedy painting in which he is saluting his father. i used charcoal on top of paint. i left his face blank but with shadows of his face because it implied there should be something there but in the end there isn't anything definite.

John John Kennedy Saluting His Father, JFK

this is my version of the famous picture of john john kennedy saluting his father. this is what i worked on today, so it is obviously not finished. i used a 16 x 20 canvas and dripped blue paint in the background and am adding john john using charcoal and white paint (highlights). enjoy!

Mixed Medium

ah. this is finally finished! i am super duper excited. ok so i found a picture of this really pretty girl online, the photo was taken by richard avedon (thank you olivia chigas) and i really liked it so i decided to draw it/paint it. this is charcoal on canvas with black paint and white/black highlights on the face. i really wanted to use charcoal on canvas... because well, i love charcoal enjoy!

Blackberry Addiction

i have an obsession with my blackberry. well blackberries in general. i was bored and sitting in my room the other day and felt compelled to draw myself holding my bberry. this is simply just a blue ballpoint pen on printer paper, only the best quality. haha

Self Portrait?

sorry about my inability to rotate these pictures before i upload them. this is from a while ago. i also drew this while in my moms office, just a ballpoint pen on printer paper and it is supposed to be a self portrait of myself wearing sunglasses. and you can see the reflection in the glasses.

Plastic Bag- sketch

i did this sketch while at my moms office. i was bored. this is just a regular ball point pen on printer paper.

Campies!

this definitely isn't one of the best things i have done but i had worked on it for weeks so i decided it would be worthy of posting. it is a picture of me and my two friends, i am in the middle. i used charcoal (as usual) and i tried to make sure the shading and proportions were correct. enjoy!

Wataaa Bottle

sorry that this is the wrong way. but i doodled this while on vacation a while back and i thought it was pretty interesting. it is ballpoint pen on printer paper. you can not tell the resemblance due to lighting but it is in fact supposed to be the same bottle

More Basket Progress!

as you can tell i am slowly moving my way towards finishing this basket. slowly but surely haha. here is about 1/3 of the finished project which i hope to finish by the end of next week so be prepared. i am still using the same mediums, nothing has really changed. you can tell how i do my work by the unfinished weaving on the right.

Two Stones Laying to Rest

wow look at that, a creative title. anyways, this is charcoal with pastel highlights on white paper. our assignment was to draw two rocks interacting in any way they could. although i chose the boring route i still liked the way the shadows lay across one another. i tried to focus on the shape and the way the highlights helped define where the edge of the rock was. the charcoal did make it easier to shade and create definition and difference.

Glass Head

also unfinished i began this because i saw this glass domed head in my art teachers room. it was appealing because of the way the shapes laid on this domed head. you can't quite tell that it is made of glass, but if i get around to finishing it i am hopeful it will look much better. i used black charcoal for the outlining and a pastel for the highlights.

Unfinished Basket

this i have just started in art this year, i really like it from far away better than close up. as you can tell it is unfinished but i feel like you can tell it is supposed to be a basket. the chaos in it makes it seem real, because most baskets are chaotic. i kept the pencil gray all the way on the left because it made the  people looking at it still realize there is some 2-D feeling to it, which i liked. i used materials such as: pastel, dark brown and black colored pencils and graphite on plain white paper.

Untitled.

i had no idea what to name this piece, so it is now untitled. i drew this based off another makeup ad, i don't like it as much because i rushed through it. i drew this using charcoal (of course) in my sketchbook. the shading is fun, except for the eyes and nose.

Sidewalk in NYC

this was a home assignment for art class last year. we had to pick out a sidewalk on google maps and sketch it. although i did not draw the faces i focused more on the shading of the surroundings. i like this piece because it is hard to tell what is what, but you know what is there (tongue twister?). i drew this using a brown colored pencil on plain printer paper.

Jackie O. and JFK

i meant to upload this picture a while back but i guess i forgot. anyways, this is a charcoal drawing i did of jackie o and jfk which i completed the last few weeks of art class last year. the proportions are off because i took the picture at an awful angle. although not a perfect representation of the two, a lot of friends have been able to tell from looking whom these two famous figures are.

Farmer Girl

another richard avedon photograph turned into a charcoal by me. yes yes i realize her eyes are not correct and her head is top big for her body, but that was because i rushed this project. i used charcoal on a blue charcoal piece of paper and a whitish-yellow pastel for the highlights. instead of shading more, the pastel highlights made the light areas pop from the dark areas.

Brooklyn Bridge

and my bridge obsession continues. this is the brooklyn bridge drawn with charcoal on white paper. not going to lie, it was difficult to draw the wires that hold the bridge up, so i kinda of gave up on it (notice the farther part of the bridge). whoops.

Washington Square Park

this was where my obsession with arches/bridges began. i did this charcoal a while back and ever since i have loved drawing more of this type of things. this is a picture of washington square park, which happens to be beautiful.

My Art Portfolio

pretty straightforward in the title, this is one of my art portfolios, except this time i decided to draw all over it. my favorite part of this is the mike wazowski drawing in the center, once someone told me that i reminded them of him... awesome right? hopefully this next year i will doodle some more on a new art portfolio.

Great Depression Woman

you may be able to recognize this face, and picture because it was a very famous photograph of a woman and her two kids in the depression. i did this with charcoal on plain white paper. i framed it because it was one of my favorite pieces.

Golden Gate Bridge

it is definitely hard to tell at first glance that this is the golden gate bridge, but it was based on a photo from google (thank you google) that i really liked. the way the sun was hitting the bridge took away from the golden bridge and brought the attention to the sky. and the gray/blue stuff is the smoke that was building up around the bridge.

Comparison

this is the comparison i was talking about in my previous post. the one on the right is obviously the one i drew, and the left is the chanel ad. i hope you can see the resemblance. this time i tried to perfect the shadowing, but i guess it will never be as perfect as the original photograph. see, i tried my best, enjoy!

Makeup Ad Face

this is actually one of my favorite charcoals i have done recently. i saw a makeup ad in the bergdorf goodman catalog thing yesterday, so today i woke up and decided to draw this. i really like it because it is so simple yet you can do so much to it. in the next post i will show the comparison between the actual ad and what i drew, hope you like it!

Face- awfullllll

no comment. this is just AWFUL. i do not know why i even put it up. i guess it was to show my progress i have made?

Scary Kid and Veronika.

i know if veronika sees this she will kill me. veronika is a good friend and a model, and the picture on the bottom right is one of her headshots.i really loved it because she looked BOOTIFUL in it. but the little kid was a google-d image. in the end though, i realized he scared me a little bit. he had a thinking bubble saying "i dont wanna kill you" i thought this was appropriate. again i am using one of my favorite mediums, colored pencil in my sketchbook.

Skull.

not the best drawing i've done to date, but i still like it because it is creepy, and creeps me out. the charcoal on the sketchpaper made it look like it was floating, which added to the uncomfortable feeling. at first glance you can tell what it is, but if you analyze it, the shape of the skull flattens.

Viktor and Rolf Painting

sooo this is the followup to my previous post of the sketches to these dresses. this is acrylic on canvas. a lot of people asked me if i did watercolor, but i did not. i simply watered down the acrylic and it looks like watercolor. i decided not to include faces because i didn't want to take away from the dresses.

Sketches for Painting

these two pages were sketches i did for a painting project i was going to start. these dresses are from the Viktor and Rolf collection, which i was turned on to by friends. these dresses were modeled after swiss cheese and other things, if you notice how there are random holes and cuts in certain places. the dresses were beautiful, if you have the chance check out their collection.

Ryan and Myself

this is another sketch in my sketchbook, also using colored pencil. this was based off a camp picture of my good friend, Ryan and myself. we had lollipops in our mouth, and the angle of the photo intrigued me. i focused mainly on our faces and kind of let our clothing stay a sketch, although you can see my shorts on the right and shirt. it has less detail so i feel it is harder to make out what it is.

The Many Faces of Me

it is quite clear that this is a sketch using a black colored pencil of ME. I collected five photographs of me from iPhoto and i sketched them. i liked to try out different facial expressions, but i think in the end they kind of all look the same. i tried though, i really did.

Contour Art

this was taught in our art class this year. and it is contour drawing (except i clearly forgot how to spell when i drew this). this is with the mirco pen, .8 i think and it was done in my sketchbook.

Looking into the Mirror

yet another Richard Avedon based drawing. i guess i really like his photographs. this one is of a woman looking into a mirror and next to it is a skeleton. i liked how the two images melded together to form one person in the mirror and with the skeleton. i did this also in my sketchbook using a black colored pencil.

Blue Duct Tape Face

this was also done in my sketchbook except i decided to not actually use some sort of writing utensil to make this. this is made out of blue duct tape. i wanted to experiment with something other than pencil or charcoal. i really liked using this because it took shading to a whole new level. it took a bit of time but i feel like the end product was worth it.

Flying Hair

this is another Richard Avedon picture that i really like. it was just a model with her flying everywhere. this i did using a black colored pencil in my sketchbook.

Splatter Paint Backpack

ok so this really isn't ART per say. but it is really cool and i wanted to share it with you all. this was an american apparel white backpack, and i got bored of the bland color, so i splatter painted it. i used acrylic paint, i am hoping it holds up through the months ahead!

Sunset

this painting done with acrylic on canvas was actually started by a previous student who never finished it. i took it upon myself to finish it. i added the sky, the bridge, the water and clouds. my favorite part is the clouds because of how real they actually look. my art teacher, mr. do was the one who taught us how to make these realistic clouds, so thanks!

Old Cameras

this is based off a series of photos that had old cameras in them. i took an interest in it because of the first old cinema camera all the way to the left. it looked like a gun and the film was the smoke. this is pencil on canvas.
